Paper Bird Houses {whimsical}

Here is the Studio 5 segment I did on these bird houses:
THESE ARE SO FUN & CHEERFUL!  Don’t they just make you happy?  I first saw this idea on Karmucaycuquino, a blog that is completely in Spanish!  But she provided a basic template for me and I decided to roll with it.  I have revised her template and made different versions for you all to enjoy.  The templates are found at the end of this post.  I also have provided some brief instructions in English to make it a little easier!  🙂

This projects consists of tracing, cutting, folding, and gluing.  Lets all go back to our elementary days, shall we?  I am not a paper crafter but this was something that I could do!  If I can do it – you can too!

Print out whatever template you desire and cut it out.  Trace it onto some fun, patterned paper.  I have found that using 3-4 different patterns is the cutest.  Try mixing large patterns with smaller pattern.  Once you have your templates all cut out, fold on all of the necessary lines.

Start with the bottom and glue the front and the back of the house on.  The roof goes on last.  I used a glue stick, I found that it dries fast enough but not too fast to work with.  I did glue a few of my roofs on with hot glue.

For the plank of the birdhouse I just used some broken colored pencils!  You can find real twigs/broken branches and put them in if you want!

Now obviously these houses are not for the birds (realistically speaking)!  They are so fun though to put fake birds in!  I just got mine from the craft store.  You can do so many things with these birdhouses because they are so light-weight.  I hung some in my daughter’s room on the wall (with scotch tape!!).  You can use the 3M wall strips if you want.

You can also hang them from the ceiling!
Or just sit them on top of a table/dresser!

HERE ARE THE TEMPLATES:
Small Square Birdhouse:
One sheet of 8.5 X 11

If you want the bigger versions of this, just draw up your own by first making the bottoms and sides.  You will have to use your ruler and math skills, but it’s pretty easy once you start.

Tall Large Birdhouse
4 sheets of 8.5 X 11 paper

Front and back click HERE
Sides and bottom click HERE

ROOFS:
To make the roofs to these houses, just add about 2 inches to the bottom and side templates and cut out.

Hey, I'm Kami!

Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
