Throwback Thursday

This post is a day late!!
Remember this little project?  Would you believe that this was one of the first official tutorials on my blog?  This was 2 1/2 years ago!  I was browsing through my blog to see when I first started and I came across these flower rings/earrings!  It's still one of my most popular searches!!  What's even more funny, is I came across my very first Studio 5 segment showing these!  It's so funny to watch because I was so nervous and I look so different (this was before I started aging)!  If you wanna laugh along with me, go HERE to watch the segment and see the full tutorial on how to make these!

My Lunch Date...

with thee Mandi Gubler.
A few weeks ago, I was able to have lunch with one of my fav bloggers, Mandi, from Vintage Revivals.  I thought it would be fun to ask her a few questions about her blog, etc.  Well, I had the interview recorded on my iPhone and of course, somehow it's not playing back (i'm so ticked right now!) sorry, Mandi!
Anyways, I had a wonderful time getting to meet her in real life and she is as sweet in person as she is on her blog!
If you haven't heard me tell you enough already about her wonderful blog, go check it out!
If I ever get the interview to play back, I will post it!

Look What I Found! Only $12

I was organizing a few boxes in my basement last night and came across some more Sweet Charli dresses!  I could have sworn I sold them all but I must have only misplaced them in the move!
Anyhow, I've had some people ask during the summer if I had any left and I told them, "no".  Sorry guys!  Here are some more though and I am selling the rest of what I have for $12+shipping!  I retailed them for $26 a year ago.  If you are interested, e-mail me: info{at} and let me know the color/size you want.  I'll let you know if I have it!

I have red, black, and ivory available.  Sizes vary from 6-12months to 4T.  These dresses look darling paired with a cardigan, tights and or leggings for Fall!  Or you can just buy one and save it for next summer!

I'm so close, I can smell it!!

...and it smells pretty good!
This is not me, although I wish I looked that beautiful while smelling something!

I have never been so close to winning something completely awesome!  I'm talking about Vintage Revival's Epic Room Makeover contest!  I am one of ten left if you didn't know already!

I had a good friend encourage me to enter this contest.  When I first heard about the contest I thought, "Oh man, someone is going to be sooooo lucky!", then I just went about the rest of my day.  A few weeks later I had lunch with my friend who encouraged me to enter.

I don't like to enter contests.  I don't know why, it's not because I'm afraid of failure.  I guess I just look at my odds as being slim to none, and figure, 'why put forth the effort'!!  Entering contests is completely out of my comfort zone.  Well, I came home from lunch that day and went into my room and remembered how boring it was.  I remembered how boring it was, how clueless I am about remodeling, and how I don't have that kind of money to spend!  So it hit me, "enter".

I immediately started taking pictures of my bare, boring room.  Uploading them, making movies, telling friends about the contest, etc.  Then, the contest started consuming me!  That's all I could think about, "How cool would it be if I got to spend a week with Mandi Gubler, and get a freaking awesome room out of it!"

So then it became real.  I asked all of my loyal readers, family, and friends to vote.  I did all that I could and I knew that if I did all that I could and didn't make the top ten, at least I'd have no regrets.  I got good news about a week ago, I am in the final 10!  I was ecstatic and couldn't believe that I was so close to something so amazing!!

So here I am now.  Two days away from finding out if I win, or if I lose.  But here's the thing, if I am not the winner of the Epic Room Makeover, I won't think I'm a loser!  This has been such a great thing for me.  I've come out of my shell, made silly movies, asked people to vote, and put it all on the line which are all things I don't normally do!  Plus, I've made some great friends along the way, some of which are my opponents!

I have had so much fun and I have to thank each and every one of you for helping me out with your votes and encouragement.  Thanks for putting up with me asking you to vote almost everyday on Facebook!  I have gained such a better confidence through all of this and I think that if I don't win, I can still find the strength and courage to makeover my room by myself (even though it will be scary!).  If I am not the lucky winner, I will be super happy (and jealous) for the winner!  Can't wait to see what Mandi does!!

Anyways, the voting ends on Monday at midnight.  I would love you all to try to vote today and tomorrow!  Afterall, you will get to see first hand how it all goes down the week Mandi is here.  I will post everything we do, even if we are just eating chocolate, which will probably be in between each stroke of the brush!  :)

Mandi, thanks for this awesome opportunity!  :)

Save Your Toilet Paper Rolls!

 Yes, RECYCLE them!
Ironically, the day I'm made these, my little 1yr old decided it would be fun to unravel the whole TP roll in my bathroom!  This all occurred while I was trying to get ready for my Studio 5 segment that you can watch HERE for a brief tutorial on these toilet paper boxes.  (my how-to is the last video in the series)
You can make one of these in 5 minutes!!

Here are some brief instructions:

1. Take an empty toilet paper roll and flatten it out with your hand. Crease where it naturally folds.
2. Take an exacto knife and score a half circle on each of the ends of the roll; front and back.
3. If you choose to, you can cut some scrapbook paper to match the length of your roll and glue it around for added color or pattern.
4. Fold in the ends (all four of them) and your box will come together nicely. You can add a dab of hot glue to ONE of the ends to keep from anything falling out.
5. Finish off with a cute ribbon!

Favorite Find: $1.80 nail polish!!

Since I'm on a roll with making videos, I thought it'd be easier to share this with you on camera rather than with pictures...

I was just watching this video and for some reason it looks like I have more make-up on my right eye than my left.  I promise I don't!  Maybe it's the shadow!  :)

HOME GOODS, a little tid bit...

What do you do when you are on the computer and aren't blog surfing, Facebooking, or Pinteresting??
One of my new favorite things is to watch these little design tips on  They feature a new short video on different how to's in home decor.  Watch this one on area rugs.  I have been wanting to add some color into my great room with a fun area rug.  Here are some tips:
I'm no home decor expert, and maybe this is why I like these little tips!!  There are a bunch more little videos talking about how to make the bed of your dreams,  setting a creative table, hanging art, and more.  Check them all out HERE and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Oh, and since you're blog surfing, did you know HomeGoods has a blog?  Check it out HERE!

I'M #132

You can vote once a day per internet processor, so feel free to vote every day!  Hee hee!

I really hate asking you all to vote for me.  I guess it's more polite to ask to vote for me than to tell you all to vote for me though, right?!!  Here are some reasons why YOU may want to vote for me:

1.  My video is pretty cool.  But kind of cheesy too.  If it makes you laugh in any way, you should vote for me!

2.  If I win and get this makeover, you'll get to see first hand the process on this blog.  I will update my blog during the process and show you the behind the scenes!

3.  I am thinking of doing an awesome giveaway for all of my awesome, loyal readers.  It's been a while and you guys all deserve it!

4.  I can't do this myself.  I cannot win by myself.  I cannot makeover my room by myself (it would never get done!)  It scares me!

**Please take a second and head over to Vintage Revivals and vote for my room!  Thanks so much you guys, I really do appreciate you all!  Yay!

I NEED YOU MANDI {my submission video}

Okay, on a scale from 1-cheesy, this video is off the charts mega cheesy!
**VOTING is from Sept. 7-Sept. 14th**

I need Mandi Gubler's magical touch in my home (from Vintage Revivals - as if you don't already know and love her!).  I have adored her style for such a long time.  She, along with her friend Hailee, are doing an Epic Room Makeover, and I entered the contest!  I really, really, really wanna win because my Master bedroom is very, very BORING!

I may be a DIY'er, but I really only do small DIY projects.  Big things like redoing a whole bedroom is sooooo scary to me.  I have proof that big projects aren't my thing.  You should see my kitchen table I tried to repurpose.  Epic Fail!  That's why I need Mandi's help.

She has wonderful sponsors to make this Epic Room Makeover HUGE!!  Her sponsors are 3M, Home Goods, Lowes, Krylon, and Royal Design Studios.  Whoohooo!  I can't wait to see all the awesome things that these great brands can do for my Master Bedroom.  Lets talk about it, shall we?

First off, lets get that big Ikea mirror hung!  And we could maybe discuss painting my bed and getting rid of that plain gray comforter?
I'm thinking of possibly warming up my room by possible window treatment?
My hubby and I bought that chair for $40 at a yard sale.  I think it could use Mandi's magic!  And that rug is the softest rug in the entire world!  We got it from Costco.  I don't want to get rid of that,  maybe just put it in another room?  I really want a bright, fun rug in our bedroom.
I need one of Mandi's cute lamp makeovers!
Our walls are sooooooo boring!  I need to add some color into my life!
I love our tray ceilings.  Unfortunately, we only two toned our paint so our ceiling is the same color as all four of our walls.  If you can imagine, this makes for a pretty dull, dark room.  This is the only light fixture in our room and it drives me crazy because it's too dark!
You might be thinking, "Why would I wanna go to Ogden, Utah when I could go somewhere awesome like California or New York?".  Mandi and Hailee, you will be welcomed into my home!   I have two darling daughters, a hot hubby (that's not an offer!), and I love to bake and cook so you would be 'treated' really nicely while being here!  Plus, it is gorgeous up here in the Fall with the colorful leaves.  We would have so much fun,
I just know it!
Ogden, Utah is the place for you!

My family pics.

I am so lucky that my sis is a photographer!  She does such a great job and I am in love with all of these pictures!  Click HERE to see more.

Yes, this is my 'sweet Charli' :)
Best Friends!
