The Gift of Relaxation!!

This was our Mother's Day gift to both my mother and mother-in-law. As a new mother (fairly), there is no greater gift I could ask for than the gift of relaxation! After all the things we do as mothers, and wives, homemakers, chefs, doctors, maids, etc. etc. etc... we need and deserve some "me" time to relax and unwind! Especially if you are also a working mom!
Here are some home-made remedies to making your own relaxing bath treatments:
(I found these all online, some of them I altered a bit. Sources are listed at end of post)

Before I give you these recipes, presentation is just as important as the treatment if you're giving it as a gift. I got my cute glass jars from Ikea (the greatest store ever), but if you don't live near one, you can always find widowed glasses or jars at thrift stores. Craft stores always have them too but you'll pay a little more.

Here are some other yummy recipes for your skin:
Sugar Scrub
2 T. brown sugar
2 T. ground up oats
2 T. aloe-vera gel
1 T. honey
1 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp. oil (almond, olive, massage...)

Grind up oatmeal until it has the consistency of sand with blender or processor.
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until it is a paste.
It should be applied to moist skin, using your fingertips to massage in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water!

Herbal Tea Bath Bags
These are so much fun!

2 C. bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
1 C. citric acid (lemon juice)
1 C. rock salts
essential oils
dried flowers/herbs
tulle or empty tea bags

1. Mix the bicarbonate of soda and citric acid together. This is what causes your tea bag to foam when it hits the water.
2. Add the dried herbs/flower petals, and rock salts.
**I don't grow my own herbs, but happened to have herbal chamomile tea in my cupboard. I mixed a few bags of that to my mixture!! With the lemon juice, I had me some nice lemon-chamomile scent! awweee!**
3. Now you can add any essential oil that you wish to scent the bags. (if desired)
4. Now you need to fill your tea bags. If you don't have tea bags, tulle works awesome too 'cause there are holes for the mixture to seap into the water!

Let your mixture dry before dropping into tub. Fill your tub with warm water, then drop your bag in and watch the water foam. The herbs and scent will float to the top of the water making you feel as if you are in a spa!! Very relaxing!

Mineral Milk Bath
Ingredients:1 Qt. (4 c.) distilled water
1 (4 oz) bar castille soap
2 C. dry milk powder
3 oz. liquid glycerin (skin moisterizer)
3 drops essential oil of your choice
Combine all ingredients and pour into bottle or jar. Add about 1/2 C. to bath.

Hope you all enjoy these bath treatments!!
Enjoy and relax!!
